Mine industry
Two ore silos and conveyor shelter
Saint-Honoré-de-Chicoutimi, Québec.
The challenge
As part of its expansion project to 260 TPH, the mine needed to install two new ore silos measuring 30′-3″Ø x 64′-0″ high (46,000 cu ft capacity). In addition, a conveyor shelter had to be added above the two new silos and connect to the shelter of the two existing silos. Our challenge: minimize impacts on mine operations and reduce installation time as much as possible through optimized factory manufacturing.
Our solution
- Design of silos to minimize installation time on-site while optimizing transportation;
- Manufacturing of silo sections with optimized width and full height, with wear-resistant bars pre-installed on the inside;
- Preparation of bevels in the factory for all welds to be performed to reduce on-site welding time.
Results
- Our exclusive design of silo screens with integrated wear bars provided a solution that was both durable and high-performing, highly appreciated by the client;
- The precision of manufactured parts and the reduced number of parts to install on-site ensured that installation deadlines were met;
- The two silos and the conveyor shelter structure met all of the client’s contractual requirements.
