FOREST BIOMASS RECOVERY PLANT
Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick
The challenge
- Recover a large quantity of downgraded logs unsuitable for sawmills.
- Plant capacity: Up to 150 MTPH.
- Handle hardwood logs up to 22″ diameter by +/- 10′-0″ in length.
- Ensure that logs do not contain steel to protect the chipper.
- The production line is installed at a height of approximately 10 feet.
Our solution
- Project completed in 2023.
- The project consisted of recovering hardwood logs downgraded by the debarking and sorting plant using a set of equipment designed and manufactured by Vibrotech.
- The first step of the project was to feed logs into an 8′-0″ diameter chipper to generate wood chips.
- A metal detector was installed to prevent damage to the chipper.
- Subsequently, the chips were sent to a screen to perform particle size separation.
- The final step was to create an outdoor stockpile of the finished product.
Results
- The plant was installed within the planned timeframe.
- The plant meets the client’s initial requirements.
