FOREST BIOMASS RECOVERY PLANT

Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick

The challenge

  • Recover a large quantity of downgraded logs unsuitable for sawmills.
  • Plant capacity: Up to 150 MTPH.
  • Handle hardwood logs up to 22″ diameter by +/- 10′-0″ in length.
  • Ensure that logs do not contain steel to protect the chipper.
  • The production line is installed at a height of approximately 10 feet.

Our solution

  • Project completed in 2023.
  • The project consisted of recovering hardwood logs downgraded by the debarking and sorting plant using a set of equipment designed and manufactured by Vibrotech.
  • The first step of the project was to feed logs into an 8′-0″ diameter chipper to generate wood chips.
  • A metal detector was installed to prevent damage to the chipper.
  • Subsequently, the chips were sent to a screen to perform particle size separation.
  • The final step was to create an outdoor stockpile of the finished product.

Results

  • The plant was installed within the planned timeframe.
  • The plant meets the client’s initial requirements.
